Students of Primary and Secondary Schools should join uniformed clubs in their schools to channel their youthful strength towards impacting the society positively.
According to Lagos State Deputy Governor, Doctor Obafemi Hamzat, most youths who indulged in crime and other vices did so because they were not challenged early in life to engage in positive activities that would enable them to impact their society positively.

Hamzat said Uniformed clubs have been veritable tools through which vibrant children were being utilised positively over the years for the good of their future and humanity.
He called on Nigerian youths to always seek means of making the society better by shunning all forms of gangsterism and crimes, advising them to embrace moral value building societies like the Scout Association rather than fall prey to cultism.
The Deputy Governor said during a courtesy visit to him by the Lagos State Scout Council of the Scout Association of Nigeria at his Ikeja office, saying the role of Organisations like the scout had become more important in this era when young peopleas young as nine years old are now cultists.
Hamzat urged young people to resist peer influences that usually lead them to vices and crime, saying associations like the scout provide better character forming influences, urging those already in the scout to adhere to the principles that have over the years made it an organisation for young people.
While promising the support of the Governor Babajide Sanwoolu led Administration towards their various activities, the Deputy Governor urged the leadership of Scout Council to always provide an avenue for young people to shun vices and violence.
Earlier, the Commissioner for the Lagos State Scout Council, Oyeyemi Adebesin, who led the team, appealed to parents to give better attention to the upbringing of their children and wards.
Adebesin said some children got involved in vices due to parental negligence, saying it was the responsibility of parents to monitor and know the kind of friends their children keep to shield them from negative peer pressure.
He said scout was an organisation determined to mould character and contribute to the education of young people who join its fold, saying ‘the mission of scouting was to contribute to the education of the young people and ensure value the change’.
Adebesin averred that parents needs to create time to know their children and wards despite their busy schedule, saying by so doing, a large number of young people would be weaned off crime.
Announcing the participation of the Nigeria Scout at the twenty-fourth World Jamboree, holding between the 22nd July to 2nd August 2019, in West Virginia U.S.A, he said Lagos State has ninety-one members out of the two hundred and thirty members going.
Adebesin said the event would be a channel for the development of the Nigerian Youths, that the jamboree would showcase the cultural nature of each state in the country.
Present at the event were the Permanent Secretaries of the Office of the Deputy Governor, Yetunde Odejayi and Dr. Bolajoko Balogun of Youth, Sports and Social Development among others.
