Lagos State Police Command has deployed adequate number of personnel to Places of Worships, markets, recreational areas and highways for hitch free Sallah celebrations across the State.

Personnel from Anti bomb units are deployed to prayer grounds and worship centres to screen people going into such places.

Surveillance Patrol teams are equally deployed to Places of Human gathering to monitor activities of criminal elements who may want to disturb the peace of the State or use the occasion to commit Crime.

The Command’s Tactical Units and Special Forces are deployed to strategic locations to deal decisively with any criminal elements before, during and after the celebration. Aerial, land and waterways patrols are intensified.

The Command’s Anti Terrorism Units are placed on red alert to tackle any act of terrorism that may rear its ugly face anytime, anywhere. Traffic personnel are well positioned to control and regulate free flow of traffic.

Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu in his Sallah message, called on Muslim Ummah to continue in the Spirit of love, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence that the Holy Month of Ramadan signifies and pray that Allah in His infinite mercy will accept our supplications.

Muazu called on Lagosians to be conscious of their environment and remain vigilant at all times. It is our civic duty to report any Suspicious Movements or Persons to the Police.

He appealed to Parents and Guardians to monitor the activities of their children and wards, calling on the youths to be law abiding and shun any act of lawlessness, gangsterism and violence.

Muazu warned that, the Command would deal mercilessly with criminal elements in the State in accordance with the law.

Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Ekana has revealed crime report saying a Student of Senior Secondary School 1, Allegedly Committed Suicide On 30th May, 2019 at about 17:50hrs Ipaja Police Station received a complaint from Sedar College Baruwa that on the same date at about 9:00am one Favour Ekemedili ‘f’ an SS1 student complaint of severe stomach ache and was rushed to the school sickbay.

The School bay immediately moved her to General hospital who in turn referred her to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital where she was admitted for medical attention.
Her parents were contacted by the School Authority. She died at about 6.00pm while receiving treatment.
Her friends witnessed the incident stated that, the stomach ache started when the girl took Fanjuice.
That on a close check on the bottle of the juice, it was discovered that the bottle contained snipper sniper chemicals not juice.
The chemical substances is taken for laboratory testing.
Homicide detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department are investigating the case.
Ekana also said On 25/05/2019 at about 3.05pm Apapa Police Station received a distress call on a fatal motor accident at a traffic Control point along Wharfs road junction Apapa.
The accident involved a DAF Trailer with Registration number XD 220 MAJ.
The driver of the said truck drove in a dangerous and reckless manner and crushed to death one Orogudade Kemi ‘f’ 39years old, LASTMA Official on duty at the spot of the accident.
The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident and abandoned the vehicle.
The deceased person was a member of the Presidential Joint Taskforce on Traffic Decongestion at Apapa. Accident scene was visited by Traffic Officers from Apapa Police Station, Sketch Map was drawn.
Corpse of the victim was evacuated to Lagos Island Hospital. Obstruction was cleared and the accident Truck was moved to Station for V.I.O. Inspection.
Investigation is ongoing. Efforts are emplaced to apprehend the truck driver and bring him to justice.
