Nigerian Air Force is to establish a forward operation base in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State to strengthen security in the area.

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar, said this during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Birnin Gwari, Zubairu Jibril Mai-Gwari, in Birnin Gwari, assuring the people of Birnin Gwari that the Nigerian Air Force will collaborate with the army and other security agencies to ensure security in the area.

Abubakar said they wanted to develop a small unit with a helicopter space to make sure the community is well secured and people go about their normal businesses with nothing to fear.

“As soon as we finish our assessment, our people will come and start building the helicopter area; We are out for the criminals and those that want to cause harm in Nigeria,” he stressed.

According to him, the eighteen new aircraft provided by the Federal Government to NAF would help to overcome the security challenges faced in the country.

He said the operation Dirar Mikiya” launched in Katsina State and extended to Gusau in Zamfara would soon be extended to Birnin Gwari.

The Emir, Mai-Gwari said the emirate had been looking forward to the visit and was happy with NAF’s plan to open a base in the community.

He, therefore, assured the Air Force that the emirate and it’s people would give them all the necessary support to tackle insecurity in the area.
