Lagos State Security Trust Fund,LSSTF, has donated an ambulance and a one hundred KVA power generating set to Police Hospital, Falomo.
Commissioner of Police, Medicals, in charge of the hospital, Modupe Obembe, who received the donation, commended LSSTF for the gesture.
Obembe also expressed gratitude to the agency for ensuring the protection of lives and property in the state, saying the donation was a morale booster for the police.
Obembe also said the Police Hospital did not only provide services to the police but also to other members of the public.
“On behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, I thank the Lagos State Security Trust Fund and Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode for this donation.
“I specially appreciate the contribution of the Security Trust Fund in ensuring safety of lives and property through partnership with the police.
“There is no doubt that they are ensuring that we sleep with our eyes closed at night as the importance of a good security structure cannot be over-emphasised in a place like Lagos.
“Due to various security challenges, the police work round the clock, therefore we should also invest in their general well-being.
“This is a great contribution from the LSSTF as it will enhance professionalism and the quality of service which will be rendered by the hospital.
“This is quite motivating. We express our gratitude and we assure you that all effort will be made to ensure these donations are put to proper use.
“We also thank the Police Service Commission Chairman, Mr Musiliu Smith, for his support, and like Oliver Twist, we look forward to continuous partnership with LSSTF,” she said.
The Chairman, LSSTF, Mr Oye Hassan-Odukale, who inspected facilities in the hospital, commended Obembe and other police medical personnel, said that he was impressed.
He said that it was easier to get more support for the police when the public saw the good that was being done by the officers.
“I am impressed with what I have seen and I will personally do more.
“While going round, we made an observation and the Executive Secretary, LSSTF, has approved the donation of additional N1 million to procure an X-ray machine.
“I want to commend the Governor of Lagos, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, who has been the pillar behind the trust fund structure, and the Police Service Commission Chairman.
“We will continue to deploy funds to improve the lives of security agents and people in Lagos. We wish you success as you continue to do your best,” he said.
The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, Dr Abdurrazaq Balogun, said that the funds were meant to be disbursed to enhance security in the state and not for keeps.
He appreciated the effort of the police in ensuring peace and stability in the state.
“This started with a request by the CP Medicals which the PSC chairman also supported.
“This is to say `thank you’ for your effort and professionalism in the dispensation of your duties which is to ensure peace and stability in the state.
“I also want to thank the Governor and the Chairman, LSSTF, for their dedication in ensuring safety of lives and property.
“LSSTF will not relent but continue to render support as we also reach out for supports from donors,” he said.
