Lagos State Police Command says it is ready to redeploy officers and men at the Igando Police Division, with a view to beefing up security, following a threat by suspected robbers.

Reports says Igando, Egan, Akesan and Obadore residents have been under attacks by armed robbers, who recently wrote a letter, informing them to prepare for them.

During a visit to the community, Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal said a new Divisional Police Officer would take over immediately and that policemen who had spent up to three years in the community would be transferred.

Edgal said the new DPO would also send him the list of all policemen in Igando, and would make sure those that had spent up to three years would be transferred, saying there was the need to identify the hideouts of the hoodlums.

He said the traditional ruler or the local government chairman must provide the police a place to station the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, saying two brand new patrol vehicles and four serviceable communication sets for emergency and coordination would be deployed.

According to him, there would also be six additional pin-down points, saying anybody caught carrying fire arms in the night in the area would be arrested.

He said he had instructed his men to use their firearms on anyone that wants to test the power of the police; so be warned.

Some members of the community hailed Edgal for the decisions and hoped that it would check armed robbery in the community.
