According to an update provided by the General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Adesina Tiamiyu, the accident occurred at 8.p.m.

A flat bed truck laden with plywood and finished boards tilted on top of Ojuelegba bridge and fell on three commercial buses and a Toyota Corolla Camry.

Tiamiyu spoke with newsmen at the scene of the accident, as remnants of the plywood were being cleared to ease vehicular movement in the area.

He urged commercial drivers to park at designated bus-stops and stop parking indiscriminately.
Tiamiyu believed If the buses were not parked indiscriminately, the accident would not have claimed lives.

Meanwhile, officials of the Lagos State government have continued to clear the debris under the Ojuelegba bridge .

This comes hours after a truck with unknown registration number conveying a huge load of foreign wooden sheets tilted while negotiating the bridge and spilled its contents on four vehicles; a Toyota Corolla car and three commercial buses.

LASEMA said its officials and other responders ensured that all the wooden sheets and accident vehicles were cleared off the road to avoid any secondary incident and ensure a free flow of traffic around the axis.

Its General Manager, Adesina Tiamiyu said proper investigation would be conducted into the incident, warning heavy duty drivers to ensure their vehicles were in good conditions and loaded goods properly secured to the flatbed before embarking on any journey.

He advised that overloading of trucks be discouraged, as it often leads to fatal accidents on the highways.

Officials of the other agencies on ground for the rescue and recovery operation include Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, Red Cross, LASTMA, and Fire Service, among others.
