In its determination to maintain a highly motivated and operationally effective force, the Nigerian Air Force, has again commissioned another set of welfare project in Lagos.
The project, a new residential accommodation which is located at the zero, four, one Communications Depot, Shasha, is aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of personnel and their families with a view to motivating them for optimal performance.
Commissioning the project, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar said the construction and furnishing of the new residential accommodation was aimed at addressing the acute shortage of accommodation that was hitherto experienced by personnel.
Abubakar reiterated the resolve of the Air Force to continue to effectively motivate personnel for effective employment of air power in counter insurgency operations in the North East and other theatres of operations.
According to him, in pursuance of the resolve to reposition the Air Force, the present administration embarked on a comprehensive infrastructural development campaign which involved the construction and furnishing of new Air Force Hospitals and schools as well as the renovation and expansion of existing ones in virtually all Air Force Bases including Kaduna, Bauchi, Ibadan and Lagos, where a new secondary school was commissioned at Shasha June last year and would commence academic activities this September.
Earlier in his welcome address, Commander of Nigerian Air Force Base 041 Communications Depot in Shasha, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola said the fact that another set of projects was being commissioned in Lagos, in quick succession, was a testimony to the dogged determination of Chief of Air Staff to rapidly develop infrastructure in the NAF with a view to improving personnel welfare and spurring them towards enhanced service delivery.
