Eight officers of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps have been suspended by the agency for allegedly torturing some students at the Surulere area of Lagos.
Its Chairman, Israel Ajao, while addressing divisional commanders and corps officers in the state, said the officers were also fighting in the public and inflicted injuries on a commercial motorcyclist.
Ajao, a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, said the agency had adopted tough measures to curb acts of indiscipline by officers, saying there would be tough time for those who indulge in acts of indiscipline.
He warned that any act of misconduct or over-zealousness from officers would no longer be tolerated by the agency, commending officers of the agency who were of good character.
The One-time Assistant Inspector-General of Police, zone two and Lagos Police Commissioner called for cooperation from members of the public by reporting erring officers within their neighbourhood.
He called on residents to provide the organisation with useful information for the purpose of serving them better.
