A mobile court sitting in Awka, Anambra, on Friday convicted 31 motorists for various traffic offences.

The mobile court operation was part of the activities marking the 30th anniversary of establishment of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Celebration Week in Anambra.

State Sector Commander, Sunday Ajayi, said 33 offenders were prosecuted, saying two of the accused were discharged and acquitted by the court.

He said the prevalent offences were failure to install speed limit device and non use of seatbelt.

“As you know, we are marking the anniversary of FRSC which was established in 1988 and as part of the events lined up; we had special enforcement patrol and mobile court.

“Thirty-three offenders were prosecuted, 31 were convicted, while two were discharged and acquitted.

“The major offences, according to the report, are failure to install speed limiter and non use of seatbelt,” he said.

Ajayi urged motorists to always obey traffic rules and maintain their vehicles.

He said there would be hospital visitation to accident victims and church thanksgiving on Sunday as well as get together for staff.
