A three storey residential building consisting of eight blocks of flats has collapsed in the early hours of today, at Ilufe Road, near Alaba International market in Ojo area of Lagos in South West Nigeria.
According to reports, no life was lost and no injury was sustained in the incident which caused panic among residents.
Investigation conducted at the scene by emergency officials who sealed the building showed that the building had shown some signs of being distressed.
General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, Adesina Tiamiyu said recovery operations were ongoing by the agencies concerned to prevent any secondary incident of a total collapse that may lead to unnecessary loss of lives.
The building collapse is coming barely twenty-four hours after the State Government announced it has embarked on demolition buildings classified as derelict as a measure to stem the rate of building collapse across the state.
