Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Commission,FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi has called on Jigawa Government to establish additional driving schools in the three senatorial districts of the state.
Oyeyemi made the call on Thursday in Dutse when he visited Governor Muhammad Badaru at Government House, saying the establishment of the driving schools would assist the state to produce trained and professional drivers.
He said it would also help in reducing road crashes caused by untrained drivers, commending the government for introducing Passengers’ Manifest and Way Bill to be used by all public transport operators in the state.
Oyeyemi expressed the hope that the initiative would ensure safety and security of passengers and limit destruction of goods, saying the initiative would also serve as a source of Internally Generated Revenue for the state.
“It will also help to get accurate information of passengers leaving various motor parks across the state,’’ Oyeyemi said.
Responding, Governor Badaru said his administration would look into the possibility of establishing driving schools in the three senatorial districts.
He gave assurance that the government would partner with the FRSC to reduce road accidents in the state.
