Outraged by the Ozubulu massacre, an NGO, Nigerians Unite Against Terror (NUAT), on Sunday called on security agencies and the relevant authorities to unmask perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Its Convener, Joe Okei-Odumakin, who condemned the gunman’s attack on the community, said the incident had raised serious concern about high level of insecurity scares in the country.

The Anambra Police Command had on Sunday confirmed that a gunman killed eight worshippers and injured 18 others in an early morning attack on St. Philip Catholic Church, Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.

Police Commissioner Garba Umar said in Awka that the bodies of those massacred had been deposited at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, while those injured have also been taken to the hospital.

Okei-Odumakin, an activist and delegate to the 2014 National Conference, said in a statement in Lagos :“We wish to reiterate our demand that everyone involved in this attack is quickly brought to book.

She said the attack reaffirmed that terrorism was one of the most serious threats to the country’s national peace and security, saying they viewed the attack coming at this period as heinous and cowardly as we want to reaffirm that terrorism is one of the most serious threats to national peace and security.

According to Okei-Odumakin, there is no justification whatever for any individual or group to resort to self-help or killing of the innocents, including women and young children in the course of settling whatever dispute, irrespective of whosoever is involved.
