Five suspected members of Boko Haram have been arrested at Gayawa area of Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State.

The suspects are Abba Muhammad of Niger republic, Usman Buhari who hail from Borno state, Illiasu Abdullahi of Gezawa local government area of Kano state, Aisah Yau and Ladidi Yunusa both of Kwarna hudu quarters in Nassarawa local government area of Kano state.

The suspects according to the Police Command, were arrested after a gun battle with the police and have confessed that they were active members of Boko Haram.

Its Police Commissioner, Rabiu Yusuf, said the suspects were confronted while planning to attack, upon sighting the policemen, they opened fire on the security operatives leading to a shootout in which three policemen were injured.

Yusuf said one AK-47 rifle, forty-nine rounds of ammunition, four magazines, pieces of improvised explosive devices, two sets of Air Force uniforms, and other times were recovered from the hideout of the suspects.

He said the arrest of the insurgence followed an active intelligent report in which the Police carried out operation, saying one of the suspects who escaped with gunshot during the operation was a dismissed Airforce officer who is now at large.

According to him, three of the suspects are males while two of them are females who are heavily pregnant.
