Thirty-seven people suspected to be wives and children of Boko Haram terrorists have been intercepted by the Nigeria Army after they escaped from the insurgents’ custody.
Thirty of the suspects who were intercepted at Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe state comprised eight women and twenty-two children.
According to Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman, the other seven persons that included women and children were intercepted at Kamuya in Yobe.
On preliminary interrogation, Usman said the suspects claimed to have escaped from Boko Haram terrorists’ custody at Kafa and Abagajiri villages in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno state.
They also claimed to have escaped from Boko Haram terrorists’ hideout at Goropcha village, Damboa LGA of Borno State.
Both sets of escapees are currently being screened and profiled by the Brigade.
