President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to meet with the released eighty-two Chibok Girls by their Boko Haram captors following rigorous negotiations at four this evening.

Buhari said the release came after months of patient negotiations, saying the security agencies had taken back the abducted girls in exchange for some Boko Haram suspects.

He expressed his deep gratitude to security agencies, the military, government of Switzerland, Red Cross, local and international non-governmental organisations for the success.

The President directed the security agencies to continue in earnest until all the chibok girls had been released and reunited with their families.

His Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu confirmed this.

In like manner, a set of 21 girls were released to the Federal Government in October 2016.

The recent development now brings to 103, the number of girls so far released by the terrorists, besides those that escaped from the militants on their own.

The girls were abducted by Boko Haram insurgents from the Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State in April 2014.
