The police in Lagos have arrested two men, who allegedly specialised in changing the expiring date of vehicle’s tyres, engine and chassis numbers.
The men, who claimed to be traders at Ladipo auto market, Mushin, were arrested while changing the expired date of some tyres inside Ladipo market.
Newsmen gathered that one of the suspects, Samuel Obi, 19 years old, sells tyres, but always send his expired tyres to second suspects, Izuchukwu Iwueze, 25, to changed the date with his machine.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti-Yaba where they were currently detained, Bolaji Salami confirmed the arrest.
According to Salami, the suspects were arrested at Ladipo auto market, Mushin, while carrying out criminal activities, stressing that they will be charge to court soon.
In his confession, Iwueze said he was introduced to the business in November 2016 by one of his friends, now at large.
He said some motorists come with expired tyres and requested that the date should be changed.
Iwueze blamed his involvement in the crime to wrong advise on business to make quick money.
The second suspect Samuel Obi, however, denied participating in the crime, stressing that he was arrested through his boy he sent to collect N1,000 from the first suspect.
