Comptroller-General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede, on Monday in Abuja inaugurated the e-documentation and unified identity card exercise for officers and men of the service.
Babandede said that the exercise which was the first of its kind in the history of the NIS was in line with international best practice.
He said the exercise would also help to achieve efficient administrative and policy issues.
This exercise is captured under the Nigeria Immigration Information System (NIIS).
It is an e-system evolution, an idea designed in partnership with our consultants to capture e-documentation for administrative and policy purposes,” he said.
The NIS boss explained that the exercise involved the physical capture, verification, authentication and uploading of the certified documents of personnel.
The NIS boss said that personnel were supposed to appear for capturing with their acceptance of offer of appointment, posting/deployment letters, Gazette of first appointment and confirmation.
Other documents include; originals of school certificate, promotion and conversion letters.
Highlights of the event was the capturing of the CG, Muhammad Babandede, Deputy Controllers-General and heads of directorates.
He said all zonal Cordinators, state controllers and other personnel would also be captured in due course.
He said the management of NIS would continue to work and partner with relevant stakeholders to re-position the service.
