Nigeria Police has arrested seventeen suspects involved in the recent killings in Kafanchan, Kaduna state.
The suspects paraded are; Nelson Paul, Bulus Jatau, Magaji Shaibu, Danlami Yakubu, Idris Bello, Danjuma Barde, Goma Adamu, Samuel Joshua, Abudulkareem Abdul, Haruna Iliyasu, Hassan Idris, Adamu Haruna, Adamu Umar, Sulieman Saleh, Abubakar Mohammadu and Muhammad Jori.
The Police said twenty-nine assorted firearms were recovered from the suspects, who were arrested after discreet and sustained investigation by the police.
Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, made this known when he presented the suspects before newsmen, saying the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigation.
Moshood, a Chief Superintendent of Police, said they would be charged for inciting public disturbance, disturbance of public peace, causing mischief by fire, culpable homicide, theft and unlawful possession of prohibited fire arms.
He said the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris assured communities in Southern Kaduna of adequate security and protection of their lives and property, urging them to be law abiding and cooperate with Police personnel deployed in their localities.
Moshood said the success was recorded after the Inspector-General of Police constituted a Joint Tactical Operation Squad, tagged Operation Harmony team.
The team comprised of the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Intelligence Response Team, SIB, EOD, the IGP Monitoring Unit, Police K9 (Sniffer Dog Section), Police Air wing and Police Medical Team with Headquarters in Kafanchan.
The operation recorded remarkable achievements in tackling the crisis and preventing further disturbance of public peace across southern Kaduna.
