Zonal Coordinator, Zone `A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Assistant Comptroller-General Monday Abueh, has urged Customs officers to stop releasing service pin codes to their personal assistants to avoid hacking into the system.
Abueh made the plea during his familiarisation tour of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) and Murtala Muhammed
Airport(MMA) Area Command, Ikeja Lagos.
He said any officer caught when someone else hacked into his or her pin code would be dismissed.
The zonal coordinator said officers should advance more on Information Communication Technology (ICT)
to avoid problems in their operations.
He said the Management was working serious to improve the welfare and reduce the challenges facing officers
in their various commands.
Abueh said officers were paid based on revenue being generated by them, adding that in some cases
where they did not meet their target, the Management had to borrow to complete their salary.
The Comptroller Federal Operations Unit, Comptroller Mahmud Haruna, urged Management not to limit the
sanctions to officers engaged in clearance of steel door that lead to discovery of the guns.
Haruna said the Management should extend the investigation to importers as well as terminal operators for
inability to provide fork lift to enable officers carry out proper physical examination of the consignment.
The Comptroller Murtala Muhammed Area Command, Comptroller Frank Allanah, assured the zonal coordinator
of his best to enable the service to meet its mandate.
A Customs officer with the MMA command urged the Management to perfect their challenges they face with the
National Health Insurance Scheme.
