Nigeria Police has set up a team of detectives and experts to conduct a thorough investigation into the incidents of electoral malpractices during the recent election in Rivers State highlighted by the Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission,INEC.
The Police said the team would unravel those who were directly or indirectly responsible for the incidences and bring them to justice, saying findings from the investigation would be made public.
Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris said the investigative team was also mandated to conduct forensic analysis on the audio report released by Sahara Reporters purportedly to be the voice of the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
He enjoined the Rivers government and INEC to avail the panel with facts at their disposal to achieve a comprehensive and conclusive investigation.
INEC chairman, Yakubu Mahmud had mentioned that there were seventy incidents that derailed the legislative election that took place in the state last week.
