Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has called for effective performance by Special Marshals for road safety administration and management at Yuletide.

Zonal Commanding Officer, RS5 Benin of FRSC, Kehinde Adeleye, gave the charge during a one-day retreat of Special Marshals, FRSC state and unit executives in Anambra.

The retreat, organised in partnership with the FRSC Anambra Command, took place in Ogidi, Idemili North LGA, Anambra.

It had its theme as: “Dynamics of Leadership in the FRSC: Special Marshals as a Case Study.”

He said the retreat was well timed, as it would reawaken the marshals on the core objectives of the FRSC and enable them to be more alive to it.

According to him, the FRSC has set a zero tolerance target for itself on traffic gridlock on the River Niger Bridge and collaboration will make this achievable.

“Our plan is for stress-free motoring on both the Asaba and Onitsha ends of the River Niger Bridge.

The corps marshal has met with the governors of Anambra and Delta to work out the modalities, so people do not have traffic challenges this Christmas.

Also, the Deputy National Coordinator, Special Marshal, RS5, Raphael Asekohme, called on members in the zone to volunteer to control traffic at yuletide.

He said there were no fewer than 2,100 volunteers in the zone and expected that the traffic situation would continue to get better, with complementary efforts of his members to the FRSC.

Asekohme lauded the leadership of the special marshal in Anambra and also, complimented the special marshals in Anambra, as being one of the best in the zone.

Coordinator of Special Marshal in Anambra, Ben Osaka, said the retreat would refresh the members on the ideals of being marshals.

According to him, it will also take their service delivery to the next level.
