New Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Zone 2, Kayode Aderanti, has promised to deploy robust intelligence into fighting the rising crimes and criminality in Lagos and Ogun.

Aderanti made the promise while addressing newsmen on his assumption of office in Lagos, saying he would work hand in hand with the Commissioners of Police in this zone toward reducing all forms of criminality to the barest minimum.

According to him, his mission is to have modern, people-oriented and effective policing of the command through Community/Public Relations and robust intelligence.

The police chief also promised to continue to mop up the hoodlums in Ikorodu, Arepo, Igando, Ibafo and other adjoining areas, saying he had zero tolerance for cultism, and any officer that engages in hooliganism will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Aderanti said the police high command had already given orders to the Commissioners of Police to perfect strategies to root out criminals in their respective states, saying they were re-energising and strategising on ways to mop up the hoodlums.

He also urged the society to help the police with any useful information about criminal activities in their areas, warning officers and men in the zone against any unprofessional conduct.

Aderanti who took over from Abdul-Majid Ali, who has been transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja, was among the newly promoted Commissioners of Police to AIG by the Police Service Commission.

Aderanti had earlier served as Commissioner of Police in Lagos State before he was transferred to the Force Headquarters.
