Insecurity: JNI tasks FG on kidnappings
Jama’atul Nasril Islam (JNI) has called on the Federal Government to adopt more pragmatic steps at improving domestic security of lives and properties.
Secretary General of JNI, Dr Khalid Aliyu, was apparently reacting to the latest abduction of JNI’s Nortyh Central Coordinator and Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abdul’Aziz Yusuf, in Saminaka Lere local Government Area of Kaduna State on Nov. 16.
He recommended for a serious national security meeting with all security agencies and other stakeholders in attendance to harness national security policies on internal security management.
He stated that JNI “strongly condemns the kidnap’’ of the octogenarian Islamic cleric and his driver.
“JNI is perturbed over the kidnap of Sheikh Abdul’Aziz Yusuf, a famous Muslim scholar based in Jos, Plateau State, and JNI Zonal Coordinator, North Central Zone, by kidnappers.
“This ugly incident is strongly condemned in totality by the JNI,’’ he said.
The scribe described the development as unfortunate and expressed concern over what JNI considered as alarming rise of kidnappings in Nigeria.
