Senate has decried lack of routine promotion for officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service.

It expressed concern over the poor welfare package for the personnel in spite of their contribution to the development of the country.

Chairman Senate Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff, Hope Uzodinma, made this known during a three day oversight visit to the various commands in Lagos.

Uzodinma who inspected the Customs Quarters in the state, lamented the hardship officers faced in the course of their duties, saying some of them had to make do with make-shift- tents in the premises.

He expressed Senate’s commitment to working with management of the service in ensuring that routine promotion commenced immediately.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff, further expressed senate’s commitment to ensuring a befitting accommodation for officers and men as well as better welfare package.
