Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has constituted a white paper review and implementation committee to co-ordinate the recommendations of audit reports of some Nigeria Police Force companies.
Idris said this followed the receipt of a special audit report on Nigeria Police Investments companies and subsidiaries in Abuja.
Nebot Williams & Co. and Gbenga Abimbola (GA) & Co., both audit firms, were commissioned to audit the Nigeria Police H.M.O, NPF Microfinance Bank and NPF Pensions Ltd.
Consequent upon that, Idris constituted a white paper review and implementation committee that would co-ordinate the administration of these recommendations in close liaison with auditing firms.
Idris said the police management team were looking forward to constructive recommendations that if implemented, would help to reposition the companies, commending the firms for carrying out their mandate within global best practices and ethics of the profession.
According to him, both firms while submitting their reports said the task, though arduous, had been completed with attention paid to details availed them by management of the companies audited.
He said the auditors further informed the I-G that they had carried out a critical financial appraisal of these companies and have come up with invaluable recommendations, saying if implemented, the report will help in repositioning them to conform to international best practices.”
Meanwhile, Idris has commended the conduct and professionalism displayed by Police officers and officers of sister security agencies in the just concluded Edo governorship election.
He said the police management team, after thorough appraisal, expressed satisfaction and extolled the conduct, and performance of officers and men, saying the poll had proved from the policing perspective that the Nigeria Police Force has the capacity, knowledge, ability and personnel to process and safeguard our nascent democracy.
Idris commended law abiding citizens of Edo for their cooperation with security agencies in ensuring that the governorship election was peaceful, saying the Nigeria Police will continue to discharge its constitutional responsibilities within the framework of the rule of law and humane dispositions.
The Police boss assured members of the public, electorate and other critical stakeholders in election management that the Nigeria Police Force will sustain this tempo in future elections in the country.
