General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Isidore Edet has said the activities of the 2016 training directive reflects the COAS resolve to improve the quality of officers, as well as soldiers they lead”.

Edet said the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai places high premium on training hence the positive successes recorded in the North East.

The GOC made the assertion during the inauguration ceremony of a five-day 81 Division Planning Cadre 2016 for officers within the Division Area of responsibility (AOR) at 81 Division Officers’ Mess, 6 Outer Marina Victoria Island Lagos today.

General Edet said the cadre is to improve the planning capability of commanders and staff officers within the Division AOR to conveniently compete with their counterparts globally.

Edet said the topics have been deliberately selected and tailored to focus on Maneuverist Approach to Warfare process, Estimate process as well as contemporary operations within Nigeria.

He urged participants to take advantage of the opportunity to scoop from the wealth of experience of the resource persons.

Accordingly, he hoped that the set objectives of the cadre would be achieved at the end of the programme.

On security, the GOC reminded officers of the security challenges across the country reiterating the need for extra caution and vigilance.

General Edet thanked the Chief of Army Staff, for the moral and financial support for the exercise.

He further appreciated the invited guests for sparing time despite their tight schedule to identify with the programme.
