Over twenty thousand people kidnapped by the Boko Haram terrorists have been rescued from captivity by troops since the assumption of Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, as Chief of Army Staff.

The ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the volatile region will ensure the release of the abducted Chibok girls and others kidnapped by the Boko Haram insurgents.

Buratai, spoke to reporters at the commissioning of a nursery and primary school built by the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), One Division chapter in Kaduna State.

The Army Chief reiterated that efforts were being made by the military to rescue the Chibok girls alive and completely flush out the terrorists from the troubled region.

He debunked allegations that the salaries and allowances of troops, who sustained injuries at theatre of operations in the northeast, have been suspended.

Buratai said there was no going back on the rescue mission irrespective of any call by Nigerians to dialogue with the rampaging insurgents in the North East of the country.

The Army Boss had earlier visited the headquarters of One Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna where he had a closed door meeting with officers and men of the division.
