Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), will partner the Nigeria Communication Satellite (NigComSat) on the deployment of modern ICT Technology to monitor the Nations’ Infrastructure as regards the NSCDC mandate.

Commandant General, Abdullahi Muhammadu, said this during a working visit to the Nigeria Communication Satellite office in Abuja, saying as part of the Corps mandate as the lead Agency in the Protection of Critical Infrastructure and National Assets, it will be better to partner with indigenous company such as Nigeria Communication Satellite on the use of technology that are indigenous.

Muhammadu said at present, the Corps is operating a Command and Control Centre set up by an Israel Company, Starter Point, in Abuja and Yenagoa, Bayelsa State to monitor pipelines against vandalism, illegal bunkery, oil theft and other associated crimes.

Therefore, he intend to establish additional Command and Control Centres for the purpose of monitoring our operations in the North East and other parts of the country.

Enumerating the Corps mandate, he reiterated that the Corps is in charge of monitoring, registering and supervising of the Private Guards Companies, inspection of the premises, training facilities and approving them if up to standard for licensing.

The Corps is working tirelessly in order to have a Biometric Data of all the Private Guards Companies Personnel in Nigeria for the purpose of accountability.

The NSCDC boss further stated, that the Corps will not hesitate to seal up any Private Guards Company operating without a valid license or involved in any other act negating the terms of reference for operation, and to keep updating the PGC Personnel, the Corps established a school (College for Security Management) in Abeokuta, for the purpose of their training.

In the area of Disaster Management, Abdullahi pointed out, the Corps is deploying 5000 Personnel to the North East to protect the IDP camps and take over the liberated areas by the Military and to work alongside the Police in order to provide security and ensure the community returns to normalcy for the displaced persons to live peacefully.

He maintained, the Corps has restrategised its operational tactics to ensuring a better and efficient service delivery to the Nation in a bid to actualising its mandate especially, in protecting the Cattle ranches, Mining sites, Dams and other assigned duties.

Managing Director of Nigeria Communication Satellite, Abimbola Alule, thanked the NSCDC boss for the visit, and reassured him of their continuous support and Collaboration in moving the Country forward.

Abimbola said, the Centre is ready to partner with the Corps in different ways, especially having been briefed on the Corps mandate and its enormous task.

She assured the Corps on the use of Simless Communication technology across the Commands, Biometrics for all the Personnel and with the use of X-band solution, to avail the Corps the opportunity of using parameter fencing for the cattle ranches with chips round the cattle neck for identification.

Alule highlighted, that with the technologies on ground, the Corps needed Command and Control Centres in addition to the existing ones to monitor the North East, IDP camps, Ranches, Mining sites and other regions apart from the South South.
