Men of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Akure, the Ondo State capital have arrested a 37-year-old man for parading himself as an army officer serving in the state.
The suspect identified as Sunday Uwanle from Kogi State was said to have been arrested in army uniform while fighting with some men.
Parading the suspect on Wednesday, the Public Relations Officer of the brigade, Captain Ojo Adelegan said the suspect had been using the army uniform to terrorise the people of Akure and environs for a long time.
He said investigation revealed that the suspect had been involving in some of the armed robberies that had been happening in Ondo and some neighboring states, using the army uniform.
Adelegan said the suspect also confessed to have bought the army uniform from one retired soldier who is a chief security officer of a branch of a commercial bank in Akure.
Some of the items recovered from him, according to the PRO included, a motorcycle, army uniform and an identify card of a police officer.
He said the suspect had been handed over to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the state police command for further interrogation and investigation.
