In a move aimed at reducing noise in Lagos State, Government has shut down seventy churches, twenty mosques and about eleven hotels, club houses and beer parlours .
General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency,LASEPA, Bola Shabi, said henceforth, the state government would no longer allow make-shift buildings to be used as places of worship.
Shabi said LASEPA planned to reduce noise in the state to seventy percent and to zero per cent by the year twenty-twenty.
According to him, as at today, the agency is only able to reduce the noise level to about thirty-five per cent, saying that is not a pass mark yet, so until it reach that target of seventy to eighty per cent, it will continue the enforcement.
He said the enforcement was a continuous exercise and they had set a target for themselves.
