Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Muhammadu, has called on the state commands and its personnel to beef up security during this Ramadan period.
Muhammadu made this call after the recent incident in Kaduna state, where a Christian faithful was stabbed by some suspecting criminals, condemning the act and said if not checkmate, criminals and hoodlums with like minds would want to disguise in whatever form to perpetuate their nefarious activities during this season using religion as a bate.
According to him, neither Islam nor Christianity promotes violence at any time talk less of a period that is supposed to be a holy season where faithful pray to Allah for peaceful co-existence in the nation in line with the teaching of Prophet Muhammadu.
Muhammadu charged all State Commandants not to relent on the Corps mandate of ensuring adequate protection of lives and property of the Nigeria citizen, saying there should be no slack in operational activities at this period. Personnel should be deploy to all nooks and crannies, suspected black spots, praying grounds, markets, shopping malls, plazas, motor parks among others to ensure adequate security.
He mandated the Commandants not to leave any stone unturned by ensuring that anyone found breaking the law should be made to face the full wrath of the law.
Also, Muhammadu said those deployed to the depots for monitoring the loading, discharge and distribution of petroleum products should ensure compliance without given opportunity for hoarding and diversion by marketers.
He seized the opportunity to stressed on the Corps deployment to Northeast, IDP camps, Mining sites, Ranches, Dams, and other critical sectors by charging the personnel deployed to all these areas to be up and doing and not to give room for any act of vandalism of the infrastructure.
The Commandant General congratulated all Muslim brothers and sisters and charged them to seize this special period of Ramadan to pray for the peace of the Nation especially at this time when the country is faced with so many challenges.
