After days of carnage on the streets of Calabar, the Cross River State capital, due to a cult war it appears normalcy is returning to the city again.
The peace which the city is reputed for had been shattered as rival cult groups fought amongst themselves.
There has been close to thirty reported killings in the past couple of weeks while the clashed raged.
The killings, brutal in nature, by shooting and hacking, in the open, left residents in fear.
Some of the cultists who always moved through the streets armed with guns and other weapons also used the opportunity to rob and hurt innocent citizens.
The situation had led to a self-imposed curfew as residents went indoors from as early as 6pm, while businesses closed much earlier than that due to fear.
But since Tuesday the killings which had been a daily affair have not been reported.
Also it was noticed that night life which was stifled is gradually returning.
Commissioner of Police, Jimoh Ozi Obeh, said they were working hard to ensure that peace comes to stay.
