The Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, has unveiled a renewed communication framework aimed at harmonising the operations of the State’s media establishments.
This is in a strategic move to strengthen public communication, enhance institutional collaboration and deepen the dissemination of government policies and achievements.
The initiative, anchored on the philosophy of One Information Family, seeks to establish a coordinated and unified communication platform through which government activities, policies, programmes and achievements can be effectively communicated to residents across the State.
The strategic direction was unveiled during a solidarity visit to the Ministry’s headquarters by the management teams and General Managers of the State-owned media organisations, including Lagos Television (LTV), Lagos Traffic Radio and Radio Lagos/Eko FM.
Addressing the gathering, the Permanent Secretary, Tunbosun Ogunbanwo, charged Public Affairs Officers and media professionals within the Ministry to intensify efforts towards projecting the achievements of government.
Ogunbanwo noted that the Ministry must demonstrate the same commitment to communicating its own institutional capabilities as it does in promoting the activities of other Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
According to him, we are the ones propagating the successes of every other Ministry; it is now our turn to propagate our own capabilities. Information is the bedrock of policy and progress. This unified platform will ensure that we speak with one synchronised voice and communicate a consistent message.
We are determined to raise the standard of public information in Lagos State so that the ordinary Lagosian can directly feel, see and appreciate the impact of government interventions,” he stated.
The Permanent Secretary further identified the strategic projection of landmark infrastructure and other life-changing government interventions as immediate priorities.
These include the newly constructed General Hospital in Ojo Local Government Area and the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, among other notable projects across the State.
The appointment of Ogunbanwo, an experienced professional with considerable institutional knowledge of the Ministry, has been positively received by stakeholders within the State’s media and broadcasting sector.
Speaking on behalf of the media organisations, the General Manager, Lagos Traffic Radio, Tayo Akanle, commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for appointing an experienced professional from within the Ministry’s established administrative and professional structure.
He pledged the full support and cooperation of the broadcasting agencies towards the successful implementation of the Permanent Secretary’s vision.
In his presentation, the General Manager, Lagos Television, Kayode Oyekanmi, highlighted the station’s ongoing digital transformation and educational initiatives, undertaken with the support of the Ministry and the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
He disclosed that LTV had incorporated two major subsidiaries into its new operational framework: Lagos Television Digital Service Limited, which is developing a mobile streaming application to expand digital content delivery and enhance revenue generation; and the Lagos Television Broadcast Media Academy, which has significantly expanded its youth capacity-development programme, increasing its internship intake from 30 to approximately 250 participants under the guidance of experienced broadcasters.
Similarly, the General Manager, Radio Lagos/Eko FM, Jide Lawal, expressed the organisation’s solidarity with the Permanent Secretary and pledged the support of the Ministry’s broadcasting directorate.
He observed that the proposed communication framework would provide the institutional coordination and consistency required to strengthen information management, preserve historical records and effectively project the image and achievements of the Lagos State Government.
The initiative represents a renewed commitment to institutional synergy, professional excellence and strategic public communication, positioning the Ministry of Information and Strategy as a more coordinated, responsive and effective driver of government information dissemination, public enlightenment and transparency.
