Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, has urged Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1 FM to sustain its performance and pursue greater achievements following its recognition as the Best Radio Station in Lagos at the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards.

Omotoso gave the charge when the station’s General Manager, Tayo Akanle, presented the award to him in recognition of the station’s achievement and the support it has received from the state government.

Congratulating the management and members of staff, the Commissioner said the award reflected the station’s leadership, diligence, integrity and teamwork.

According to him, what this has done is not just pronouncing it and saying they are the best, but it is a testimony to the kind of leadership that they have provided as a GM in the place.

In his words, it is a testimony to the fact that they have done the job diligently, done the job with wisdom, have done job with integrity.

He urged the station to build on the recognition rather than become complacent, noting that sustaining excellence required greater commitment and continuous improvement.

Omotosho said for every achievement that you make, you will have to double your efforts so that people can know that indeed what you have been able to achieve is not a fluke.

He noted that the station still had more milestones to pursue, urging its management to maintain the standards that earned it the award and seek further recognition for its operations.

The Commissioner attributed the achievement not only to the General Manager’s leadership but also to the cooperation of staff members who had worked together towards a shared vision for the station.

Omotoso further urged the management to dedicate the award to its listeners, noting that public support remained central to the station’s success.

Earlier, Akanle said the station was presenting the award to the Commissioner to appreciate the support it had received from the Lagos State Government.

He described the recognition as a significant milestone, noting that the station had not received such recognition in its 14 years of operation.

In the last 14 years that the station has been established, such an award has not been given to the station. That alone made us so happy because we have put in so much effort into little things that we are doing,” Akanle said.

He added that the recognition by the Nigerian Broadcasters Media Awards demonstrated the station’s consistency in delivering on its mandate to Lagos residents.

“The fact that such a reputable body could give us that recognition shows that we know what we are doing. We are being consistent in our deliveries; we are being consistent with all the mandates that we are giving the people of Lagos,” he said.

Akanle expressed appreciation to Omotoso and other supporters of the station for their contributions to its operations, describing the presentation as an opportunity to acknowledge their support.

The award recognises the station’s performance in broadcasting and reinforces the need for continued commitment to serving its audience.
