The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerian women to rally behind President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu describes the President as a courageous, bold leader willing to make the difficult decisions needed to steer the country towards long-term economic prosperity.

Speaking on Monday in Abuja at the official inauguration of the Directorate of Women of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, the First Lady charged women delegates from across the 36 states and 774 local government areas to carry the message of economic recovery to the grassroots.

As you go back to your various states, tell everyone that you have a leader who is bold enough to take difficult decisions at the beginning. He is a leader who can be trusted to lead us into prosperity,” Senator Tinubu said.

Let us show the world that Nigerian women have spoken. We speak with one voice, and we vote APC again so that the solid foundation that has been laid can be built upon.”

Framing the campaign under the theme “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity,” Senator Tinubu insisted that the administration’s economic interventions are already yielding tangible results.

“The theme of this year’s rally is not just a slogan; it is our reality,” she stated. “Our economy is stabilising, inflation is coming down, and foreign reserves are growing. Investors are returning to Nigeria, and farmers are receiving more support. Our children in universities can now access student loans through NELFUND, just to mention a few.”

To streamline campaign operations ahead of 2027, the First Lady announced that all independent female political groups—such as the Torchbearers, Tinubu Support Group, and Tinubu Again—have been merged into a single party structure under the APC.

“For clarity, every other support group that women have has been merged into one structure,” she explained. “What you will see on the ballot is APC. We are here to promote APC, nothing less. From the presidency to the governorship, the National Assembly, and state assemblies.”

In a show of unity, top party figures and campaign leaders aligned with the First Lady’s call for grassroots mobilisation.

The Vice President’s wife, Hajiya Nana Shettima, described the 2027 poll as a “payback time” for the social interventions carried out across the country under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

“To our mother, the First Lady, she has done a lot for our women, our children, and our men as well,” Hajiya Shettima noted. “We have crisscrossed this nation, giving support and scholarships to our students, empowering our women, looking after our aged people and persons with disabilities… It is time for us to pay back our dear President.”

The chairperson of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum (NGSF), Mrs. Olufolake Abdulrazaq, reaffirmed delegates’ nationwide readiness to hit the campaign trail, declaring, “We are ready to mobilise, mobilise, and mobilise. It is APC all the way, from top to bottom. We are going to follow the man who knows the road.”

Lending structural backing from the campaign council, PCC Director General Senator Abdulaziz Yari emphasised the critical role female voters play in electoral outcomes, noting that women account for approximately 60 per cent of total votes cast nationwide.

“Our leader, the President, told us that women are loyal voters, and we believe in that,” Senator Yari said. “We are here as men not to intimidate you, but to support you… What we are seeing here on the ground, with our flags, demonstrates our readiness to vote at our polling units.”

Senator Tinubu revealed that the campaign strategy will feature six zonal mega rallies leading up to a national grand finale in Abuja, coordinated through the newly established national women’s campaign office at 11A Olasisi Street, Asokoro.
