The Yoruba broadcasting and entertainment community has been thrown into mourning following the reported death of veteran broadcaster and film marketer, Femi Adio, popularly known as Femi Adio Wonder, at the age of 52.

Femi Adio was a familiar voice to generations of Yoruba-speaking audiences.

His broadcasting career reportedly spanned more than three decades, beginning with his work as an independent and freelance presenter with Radio Lagos.

He later worked with Paramount FM, Abeokuta, in Ogun State, before eventually venturing into film marketing.

Long before his name became associated with broadcasting, Femi Adio was reportedly a professional barber during his younger years.

One of the memorable chapters of his personal life was the elaborate celebration he hosted on 12 June 2014, marking three important occasions: his 40th birthday, the launch of his radio presentation CD, Femi Adio Reloaded, and his Nikkah ceremony with his wife, Ayishat Adio.

The occasion attracted personalities from the broadcasting, political and entertainment circles.

Among those reportedly present were Sheu Jamiu Amioloun, Emmanuella Abimbola Fashola, wife of the then Lagos State Governor, and Hon. Dayo Saka Fafunmi.

The celebration also featured a musical performance by Gospel Juju musician Mega 99, while Bashiru Adisa, popularly known as Baba Gboin, served as the master of ceremonies.

In the later years of his life, Femi Adio reportedly battled serious health challenges, including diabetes.

Reports stated that the illness affected his finances and mobility and that he publicly appealed for financial assistance towards his treatment.

There were also reports that he sold or auctioned some of his possessions, including cars and houses, to help finance his medical care.

Femi Adio was originally from Iwo, Osun State, in southwestern Nigeria.
