Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Professor Badejo Ayodeji Olawunmi as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU).

The appointment was announced in a press statement signed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.

The statement said Professor Badejo “succeeds Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, who is retiring after the expiration of her five-year tenure.”

Professor Badejo is a Professor of Guidance and Counselling and was born on August 4, 1962.

According to the statement, she obtained a Ph.D. in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), as well as an M.Ed. in Guidance and Counselling from the same institution.

The Lagos State Government said the appointment followed the completion of Olatunji-Bello’s five-year tenure as Vice-Chancellor of the university.

Professor Olatunji-Bello was appointed Vice-Chancellor of LASU in September 2021, succeeding Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun.

Professor Badejo now becomes the university’s new Vice-Chancellor following Governor Sanwo-Olu’s approval of her appointment.
