Officials of the Lagos State Fire And Rescue Service have averted an explosion at Yerevan Petroleum Filling Station (PFS) at 29, Ajayi Road, Eagle bus stop, Ogba, Ojodu LCDA, Lagos.

Acting Head of the Fire Service, Margret Adeseye confirmed this today during her meeting with the operational men from the Agency’s Headquarters at Alausa,
Ikeja.

According to her, a distress call was received at about O621hrs to Yerevan Petroleum Filling Station (PFS) 29, Ajayi Road, Eagle bus stop Ogba, Ojodu LCDA. Firemen from Alausa and Agege Fire Station were swiftly mobilised to the scene for rescue operation.

“On arrival, it was discovered that a 33,000 Tanker loaded with PMS (Petrol) was discharging to the underground storage facility of the station when its rear tyres and a 33KVA transformer installed at
the entrance of the petrol station caught fire.

The fire was quickly doused, preventing the ripple effect of explosion and ensuing loss of lives and property.


Fortunately only one dispensing machine was partially affected.

Adeseye further explained that the cause of the fire which was under investigation resulted from the discharging valve of the tanker, adding that there was no injury or loss of life involved in the incident”.
