Lagos State Government, has warned the general public to desist from the act of attacking officials of the Lagos State Fire Service and Fire Engines or face the full wrath of the law.

Acting Head, Lagos Fire Service, Margaret Adeseye while reacting to an attack on the crew of Firemen at Sam Shonibare Street, Surulere, Lagos, injuring a Fireman, chattering the right door passenger side window and cracking the left driver side wind screen of the vehicle.

Adeseye observed with dismay the attacks of its officials, damaging of Fire Engines and obstruction of same from carrying out their official duties by unidentified hoodlums.

She lamented the extent of the injury inflicted on one of the officers and damage to government’s property, describing the Officer as dedicated and hardworking whose motive was to save lives and property.

According to her, the gallant Officer and Equipment responded to distress call and was carrying out their statutory duties when they were attacked by hoodlums at the scene of Fire outbreak.

Adeseye explained further that an officer was affected by the chattered side screen, saying in order to prevent confrontation and breakdown of law and order, the officials refrained and reported at Surulere Police Division, Area C.

The Fire boss therefore appealed to members of the Public to desist from damaging government facilities as lots of tax payers money were expended in providing the amenities for the safety of Lagosians and also explained the negative consequence of unwarranted but coordinated attacks on fire trucks as an indirect denial of other people from benefitting from dividend of democracy as damaged truck cannot be in good condition to serve the needs of Lagosians.

She assured all and sundry of the readiness of the Officers to fight fires whenever call upon.
