With barely two days to Eid El Kabir celebrations, the Zone Two Command of the Nigeria Police Force, has deployed officers and men of the command to ensure adequate security before, during and after the ceremony.
The Zone Two Command which is saddled with the responsibility of policing Lagos and Ogun States, says the deployment was part of efforts put in place to ensure a hitch-free sallah celebration.
Its Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Lawal Shehu, charged Police Commissioners in charge of the states to be proactive in the discharge of their duties of protection of lives and properties of residents of their states.
Shehu said the deployed officers and men were from Anti Kidnapping Units, Rapid Response Squad, States/Zonal Intelligence Bureau, Quick Intervention Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Command, Special Anti Robbery Squad, Counter-Terrorists Unit, Police Mobile Force, Special Protection Unit.
According to him, others include; Safer Highway Operatives, all Patrol and Guard Officers to beef up security around Worship Centres, Market places, business plazas, highways, relaxation centres, amusement parks, motor parks, shopping malls, recreation centres, remote and rural areas.
Shehu while reiterating his commitment to duties and ensuring a Nigeria Police of a dream, congratulated Muslims on the Eid Kabir celebration.
He advised the public to go about their lawful businesses and celebrate the festival without any fear of molestation/ attack as adequate security measures were in place to hamper any ugly occurrences.
