Officials of the Lagos State Police Command, have arrested popular musician, Augustine Kelechi, aka Tekno, for breaching public decency by displaying half-naked girls in traffic.
According to the Command, Tekno was arrested and was undergoing questioning at the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba.
Tekno had last week partook in a mobile advertisement that displayed half nude girls, who were dancing seductively in a transparent glass box on a truck around the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge.
In the truck, the musician was seen spraying the scantily dressed girls with money as they danced.
Following the public outcry it generated, the state government reacted swiftly condeming the indecent incident.
In his defence, Tekno said he merely used the truck to convey his crew to a location for a shoot, which was not intended to breach public decency.
Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, who confirmed the arrest, said Tekno was invited for questioning, saying such acts of public indecency was against the criminal code and if after investigation those involved were found guilty, they would be charged to court.
Already, the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency has suspended the advertising firm, Pro-Vision Media Systems Limited.
However, the singer and producer, Tekno has tendered his apology to Lagosians and the general public for the viral video.
Tekno, released a statement which explained his own account of the incident.
The Afropop singer who took to his Instagram page, said they were shooting a music video and there was a shortage of vehicles when they had to change locations.
According to him, he had no reason to be dancing with the half-naked girls as there was no music or ventilation in the truck.
Tekno further stated that they were shooting a music video and the footage which went viral was filmed by midnight, noting that he respects the decency in Lagos, the singer added that transparent truck incident was no form of advert for a strip club.
