Head of Transition and Recovery International Organization for Migration and Representative of the Chief of Mission of the organisation, Dr Fernando Medina paid a courtesy visit to Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai at the Headquarters Command and Control Centre in Maiduguri.

In his remarks at the occasion, Dr Fernando commended the Nigerian Army for its untiring efforts and commitment to end insurgency and the successes achieved so far.

He intimated Buratai of his organisation’s readiness to support and partner with the Nigerian Army to de-escalate conflict through collaboration/provision of technical support at organisational, community and individual levels to contribute to peace building, intervention, reintegration and community reconstruction efforts of the Nigerian Army/Federal Government.

In his response, Buratai thanked the organisation for the visit and appreciated the President and the groups’ efforts towards strengthening peace and security in the world, particularly in Nigeria.

He expressed readiness to provide the needed support for the organisation to effectively carry out its plans in the North East Zone.

Among the senior officers present during the visit include the Chief of Logistics Army Major General Enobong Udoh, the Theatre Commander Major General Benson Akinroluyo, Chief of Military Intelligence Major General SA Adebayo, Commander Special Forces Major General MG Ali and Acting Provost Marshal Nigerian Army Brigadier General H Ahmed.

The Consultant Disengagement, Disassociation, Reintegration and Reconstruction of International Organization of Migration, Rear Admiral AA Dacosta accompanied Dr Fernando to the visit.
