Federal Road Safety Corps, has tasked newly promoted officers of the Corps on the need for mentorship of younger officers.
Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, gave the task at the Decoration ceremony for newly promoted senior officers of the Corps in Abuja.
Oyeyemi reminded them that as part of their duties as frontline officers, they should not forget one of the corps’ unfinished project of mentorship, saying with your new status, more responsibility for mentorship also accrues to you as individuals and in the collective.
He said the promotion came at a time when the corps was undergoing administrative and operational reforms and as such the officers should contribute their quota to the progress of the agency.
The corps marshal said the promotion was in accordance with management’s policy on staff capacity development and motivation designed to enhance career growth and increased productivity of personnel.
FRSC Board Chairman, Bukhari Bello urged the officers to be prepared for higher responsibilities and more challenging tasks.
Bello also called on them to rededicate themselves to challenges of their new ranks and fully support the Federal Government’s change agenda which involved character reorientation and personal sacrifices.
He commended the management and staff of FRSC for their commitment towards efficient traffic management at all times.
The chairman said the exercise involved physical fitness tests, written and oral examinations, evidence of contribution to the corps and above all integrity and loyalty to the system.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano urged the newly promoted officers to be transparent and dedicated in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Ganduje, who spoke through his deputy, Nasiru Gawuna also commended the management for ensuring that the Kano office of FRSC was functional.
He also applauded the corps in its efforts at ensuring safety of lives and property on the highway.
Speaking on behalf of the officers, Deputy Corps Marshal Julius Asom expressed gratitude to God and management of FRSC for the promotion.
The promoted officers include four Deputy Corps Marshals, 14 Assistant Corps Marshals and nine Corps Commanders serving at the National Headquarters, Abuja.
