A fifty-five year old man, Bello Nosiru Yinka, has been sentenced to one year in imprisonment by Igbosere Magistrate court, Lagos for procuring fake visa of all agencies and high commissions.

Yinka was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Abosede Botoku in court two Igbosere.

According to Police Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, Lagos, the convict, a notorious documents vendor who specialises in faking visas of all Embassies and High Commission was arrested by operatives of the Unit when the American Consulate General complaint about the fraudulent activities of convict.

Its Police Public Relations Officer, Audu said the convict had procured fake French Visa for one applicant (name withheld) who appeared at the Consulate General for B1 B2 visa category.

Lawal, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the activity of visa vendors had affected genuine visa applicants who don’t know how visas of all categories were applied and obtained.

He advised fake visa or documents makers to desist from the unholy act, otherwise the long arm of the law would always catch up with them, saying prospective visa applicants should be wary of fraudsters parading themselves as visa agent.

The Image-Maker warned that no Embassy or High Commission appoints any person or group of persons to act as Visa agent, saying the arrest of the convict, investigation and successful prosecution was a major breakthrough as the convict have been in the business of printing fake visas and other documents for decades.
